VYCP Audition Information

Thank you for your application to the Vega Youth Chamber Program.  This page contains all the information that you will need regarding the audition, including audition times, required repertoire and other details.  Check back periodically for important updates. Deadline for application registration is August 19th, 2024. Detailed audition schedule will be posted shortly after.

1-5pm
Saturday, August 24th, 2024

Schwartz Center for Performing Arts at Emory University, Room 332

Repertoire:
1. Strings: 3-octave scales and arpeggios of your choice.

Piano: 4-octave major/minor scales and arpeggios (augmented/diminished chords, not broken) of your choice.

2. Two contrasting works or movements representing your current playing level.  A larger work with contrasting sections may also be acceptable.

3. A short excerpt to be played with the metronome (string players only) at the audition will be emailed to everyone a week before the audition date.

4. A short sight reading excerpt will also be given at the audition.

Tuition:
Tuition is $500 per student, and is due in full at the first meeting of the semester, payable by check made out to "Vega Quartet."***  This fee includes eight 1.5 hour coachings, a masterclass/dress rehearsal and a public performance.  Coachings outside these parameters may be subject to additional fees, as agreed upon on a case-by-case basis between the Vega Quartet and participants.

***A limited amount of financial aid is available for qualified students, to be awarded at the discretion of the Vega Quartet upon request.
